This is a wall that is about 12 high total from the finish grade to the top of the parapet.

Max baker and stonewall jackson would be proud. It is used at a single ply roof membrane sloped per foot to a gutter like on the bainbridge residence that we designed and built above. At the highest point of the sloped roof the parapet is about 10 tall at the lowest point the parapet is about 14 tall. Insulate within parapet wall cavity to depth of roof insulation if present.

The parapet roofby far the most common type of flat roof isn t actually flat at all. A parapet roof is simply put when a building s outermost walls extend upwards past the roof around the edges most often by a few feet. Roof membrane must lap up wall to minimum of 12 above roof plane or per specifications whichever is greater. While a roof parapet wall may seem like a small detail in the grand scheme of the entire building design it can actually change the dynamic of an entire roof both in terms of cosmetic detailing and safety.

A parapet roof involves a typical sloped roof that is concealed behind a parapet wall so that it gives the impression of being flat. The perimeter of the roof assembly insulation is wrapped to prevent interstitial airflow from the parapet into the multilayered rigid insulation of the field of the roof.
